transcoders
Media format converters
Transcoders are devices or software that convert media from one format to another—changing video codecs, audio formats, or file types while preserving the content.
A transcoder might convert a video from one compression standard to another for compatibility with different players or to reduce file size: The streaming service uses transcoders to deliver video at multiple quality levels.
