tracer fire
Glowing bullet streams
Tracer fire is gunfire using ammunition that emits light or smoke, making the bullet's path visible.
Military forces use tracers to help gunners adjust their aim, especially at night or against aircraft.
The glowing streaks create a distinctive visual effect: Tracer fire lit up the night sky.
Every few rounds in a belt or magazine is typically a tracer, with regular ammunition between.
