tots

Wee young children

Tots are very young children, roughly toddler age—old enough to walk but still small: The playground was full of tots.

The word is informal and affectionate.

Tots also names small pieces of something, especially tater tots—fried cylinders of shredded potato: We ordered tots with our burgers.

As a verb, tot means to add up, usually with "up": Let me tot up the bill.
