thiosulphate
Photographic processing agent
Thiosulphate (also thiosulfate) is a chemical compound containing sulphur and oxygen, used primarily in photography to fix images by dissolving unexposed silver halide crystals.
Sodium thiosulphate, commonly called "hypo," was essential to darkroom processing.
The compound also serves as a medical antidote for cyanide poisoning and in water treatment to neutralize chlorine.
