thalers
Historic silver money
Thalers are large silver coins that circulated widely in Europe from the 16th through 19th centuries.
The word comes from German and gives us the word "dollar"—the thaler was so influential that its name became the basis for currency names worldwide.
The museum displayed thalers from various German states.
