telecounseling
Distance mental healthcare
Telecounseling is counseling or therapy conducted remotely—by phone, video call, or online chat rather than in person.
The practice expanded dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic when in-person sessions became impractical: She switched to telecounseling after moving to a rural area without local therapists.
Also spelled tele-counseling.
