cybercounseling
Internet-based mental support
Cybercounseling is mental health counseling or therapy conducted through digital means rather than in person—typically via video chat, messaging, email, or dedicated apps.
The practice expanded dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic and has made therapy more accessible to people in remote areas or with mobility limitations.
She preferred cybercounseling because she could talk to her therapist from home.
The term is sometimes spelled as two words or hyphenated.
