taxies

Moves before takeoff

Taxies is the third-person singular present tense of taxi, used when an aircraft moves slowly along the ground under its own power: The plane taxies to the runway before takeoff.

Less commonly, it describes traveling by taxicab: She taxies to work when it rains.
