tasking

Delegating work assignments

Tasking is the act of assigning tasks or duties, especially in military, government, or corporate contexts: The general's tasking included reconnaissance and supply missions.

The word carries bureaucratic overtones—you're more likely to hear it in a briefing room than a kitchen.

It can also describe work that demands effort: This project is tasking our resources.
