talk up

Praise to others

To talk up something is to promote or praise it enthusiastically, often to generate interest or support: She's been talking up the new restaurant to everyone.

You might talk up a product, a candidate, or your own qualifications.

The phrase can also mean to speak more loudly or boldly: Talk up—we can't hear you in the back.
