surgical gown

Sterile medical garment

A surgical gown is a protective garment worn by medical personnel during operations and other sterile procedures.

It covers the body from neck to knees (or ankles), with long sleeves and ties at the back, designed to maintain a sterile field and prevent contamination between patient and surgical team.

Disposable gowns have largely replaced reusable cloth versions.
