supertax
Rich person's burden
Supertax is a tax imposed on top of ordinary income tax, typically at a higher rate and applied to incomes above a certain threshold.
The term is largely British and somewhat dated, having been replaced by phrases like "higher rate" or "additional rate" tax.
In casual use, supertax can describe any tax perceived as exceptionally burdensome: The new levy on luxury goods amounts to a supertax on the wealthy.
