superfluity
More than needed
Superfluity is the state of being superfluous—more than what's needed or wanted.
The word often carries a note of criticism: a superfluity of bureaucratic regulations, the superfluity of ornament in Victorian architecture.
It can also simply mean an excess or overabundance: a superfluity of caution.
The plural superfluities refers to unnecessary things themselves: lives cluttered with superfluities.
