studio theater
Small performance venue
A studio theater is a small, flexible performance space, typically seating fewer than 100 people.
Unlike traditional proscenium stages, studio theaters often place audiences on multiple sides of the action and allow for experimental staging: The company workshopped the new play in their studio theater before moving it to the main stage.
Many larger theater companies maintain a studio theater alongside their primary venue for intimate or avant-garde productions.
