stone stack
Balanced boulder tower
A stone stack is a tower of rocks balanced on top of each other, typically found along hiking trails, beaches, or riverbanks.
Some are ancient cairns marking paths or burial sites; others are modern creations, built for meditation, art, or simply the challenge of balancing.
The practice has become controversial in natural areas, where excessive stacking disturbs ecosystems and clutters landscapes: Please don't add to the stone stacks—leave rocks where you find them.
