steppers
High-kneed exercise machines
Steppers are motorized shoes or exercise machines that simulate stair climbing, or people who participate in stepping—a percussive dance tradition featuring synchronized stomping, clapping, and chanting, especially prominent in Black Greek fraternities and sororities.
In fitness contexts, steppers work the legs and cardiovascular system: I do thirty minutes on the steppers at the gym.
