state tree
Official botanical symbol
A state tree is a tree species officially designated as a symbol of a U.S. state, chosen by the state legislature.
Most states selected trees with economic or historical significance: The sugar maple is Vermont's state tree.
Some trees represent multiple states—the pecan is claimed by both Texas and Alabama.
