star wheel
Indexed rotating mechanism
A star wheel is a wheel with pointed projections arranged around its rim, resembling a star.
In machinery, star wheels advance materials one notch at a time—film projectors use them to move frames, bottling lines use them to space containers.
The term also applies to hand tools with radiating points for scoring or perforating surfaces.
