stall speed
Lift failure threshold
Stall speed is the minimum airspeed at which an aircraft can maintain level flight.
Below this speed, the wings no longer generate enough lift and the plane stalls—suddenly losing altitude.
Pilots must keep above stall speed, especially during takeoff and landing when flying slow and close to the ground: The stall speed increases with a heavier load.
