Vs
One confronting another
Vs is an abbreviation for versus, marking opposition or comparison between two things: Roe vs. Wade, the Celtics vs. the Lakers.
In legal citations, *v.* (with a period) is standard, but *vs.* dominates informal contexts—sports matchups, debates, product comparisons.
Sometimes written without a period as *vs* or expanded to *versus*.
