Scrolling game updates
A sports ticker is a scrolling display of scores, statistics, and updates that runs continuously across the bottom or top of a television screen during broadcasts.
The format originated with stock tickers and became standard on sports networks: I kept one eye on the sports ticker while watching the game.
The term extends to similar scrolling feeds on websites and apps.
