spinning globe
Turning world model
A spinning globe is a spherical model of Earth mounted on an axis that allows it to rotate, used for teaching geography or as decorative objects.
The phrase also describes the animated icon showing a rotating Earth, once ubiquitous in web browsers and software to indicate loading or internet connectivity: I stared at the spinning globe while the page loaded.
