spectator sport
Watched competitive games
A spectator sport is one that attracts audiences who watch rather than participate.
Football, basketball, and tennis are spectator sports; jogging and hiking are not.
The term sometimes carries mild dismissiveness—calling politics a spectator sport suggests passive entertainment rather than engagement.
