soundpost
Fiddle's internal brace
A soundpost is a small wooden dowel inside a violin, cello, or similar stringed instrument, wedged vertically between the top and back plates near the bridge.
It transmits vibrations between the plates, affecting the instrument's tone and resonance.
Proper placement is critical—even slight adjustments change the sound dramatically.
