sound films

Movies with audio

Sound films are motion pictures with synchronized audio—dialogue, music, and sound effects recorded alongside the visual image.

The term emerged in the late 1920s to distinguish these from silent films: The Jazz Singer was among the first sound films to achieve commercial success.

Also called talkies, though that term now sounds dated.
