soft girl

Feminine, gentle persona

Soft girl describes an aesthetic and persona emphasizing femininity, gentleness, and pastel colors—pink blush, hair clips, plush toys, and dreamy expressions.

The term emerged from social media in the late 2010s as a counterpoint to edgier styles.

A soft girl cultivates vulnerability and sweetness, sometimes performatively: She's in her soft girl era.

The look draws on Y2K nostalgia and anime influences.
