sofa surfers
Nomadic guest sleepers
Sofa surfers are people who stay temporarily on friends' or acquaintances' couches, moving from one to another rather than maintaining permanent housing.
The term suggests a casual, itinerant lifestyle—sometimes by choice, sometimes by necessity: He spent six months as a sofa surfer after losing his apartment.
Related to couch surfing, which can also describe a hospitality exchange network for travelers.
