snowpiles

Accumulated frozen precipitation

Snowpiles are accumulations of snow that have been pushed, shoveled, or plowed into mounds.

They form naturally through wind drift but more often result from clearing sidewalks, driveways, and roads: The snowpiles along the street were taller than the cars.

Children climb them; they linger into spring as dirty remnants long after the rest has melted.
