sled dog teams
Harness-linked huskies racing
Sled dog teams are groups of dogs, typically huskies or malamutes, harnessed together to pull a sled across snow or ice.
The dogs work in formation, led by one or two lead dogs who respond to the musher's commands.
Sled dog racing, particularly the Iditarod, keeps the tradition visible: The sled dog team crossed the frozen tundra in record time.
