slang dictionaries
Informal speech compendiums
Slang dictionaries are reference works that document informal, nonstandard, or subcultural vocabulary—words and expressions that mainstream dictionaries often omit or undertreat.
They capture language as it's actually spoken: street talk, profanity, drug terminology, sexual slang, regional expressions.
I looked up the term in a slang dictionary since my regular dictionary didn't have it.
The best ones provide dated citations showing when and where terms appeared, tracking how informal language evolves.
