Skin oil is the natural oily substance produced by sebaceous glands in the skin, also called sebum.
It keeps skin and hair moisturized but can accumulate and cause acne or a greasy appearance.
The term also refers to cosmetic oils applied to the skin for moisturizing or massage: She rubbed skin oil on her dry elbows.
