Creating dark outlines
Silhouetting is the act of showing or casting something as a dark shape against a lighter background.
A photographer might be silhouetting a subject against a sunset, or stage lighting might be silhouetting dancers behind a scrim.
The word can also describe outlining or defining by contrast: The mountains were silhouetting against the evening sky.
