signor
Respectful Italian address
Signor is the Italian equivalent of mister or sir, used as a title of respect before a man's name or as a form of direct address.
Like its counterparts in other Romance languages—señor in Spanish, senhor in Portuguese—it appears in English texts dealing with Italian culture, opera, or historical settings.
The plural is signori.
