sickout
Mass fake illness
A sickout is a coordinated job action where employees collectively call in sick to protest working conditions or pressure management, while avoiding the legal complications of an official strike.
The tactic exploits the difficulty of proving workers aren't actually ill: Air traffic controllers staged a sickout that delayed hundreds of flights.
