shoot-em-up
Arcade gun game
A shoot-em-up is an action movie or video game centered on gunfights and violence, with little emphasis on plot or character development: We watched some mindless shoot-em-up on cable.
In gaming, the term often describes a specific genre where players control a character or vehicle firing at waves of enemies.
