shin-kicking
Painful leg competition
Shin-kicking is exactly what it sounds like—a contest where opponents kick each other's shins until one gives in.
It survives as a folk sport in parts of England, particularly at the Cotswold Olimpick Games, where competitors stuff straw in their trouser legs for padding.
The term also describes any rough, unsportsmanlike contest: The debate devolved into political shin-kicking.
