shearlings

Lambs recently shorn

Shearlings are young sheep that have been shorn once, typically around one year old.

The term also refers to the skin or hide of such a sheep, tanned with the wool still attached and used for clothing, especially coats and boots: shearling boots, a shearling-lined jacket.

The wool side faces inward for warmth while the leather faces out.
