set-shot

Grounded court attempt

A set-shot is a basketball shot taken while standing still with both feet planted, as opposed to a jump shot.

Once the standard shooting technique, the set-shot has largely disappeared from modern basketball except for free throws and shots by older recreational players: He still uses that old-fashioned set-shot from the top of the key.
