senate race
Chamber election campaign
A senate race is an election for a seat in a legislative senate, most often the United States Senate.
These races occur every two years for roughly a third of the hundred Senate seats, each representing an entire state.
Senate races typically draw more attention and spending than House races: The Georgia senate race broke fundraising records.
The term applies to state-level senate elections as well.
