self-concepts

Views of oneself

Self-concepts are the beliefs and ideas a person holds about themselves—their identity, abilities, and worth.

The term appears in psychology and education to describe how people perceive their own characteristics: Her self-concepts around intelligence were shaped early by school experiences.

Unlike self-esteem, which evaluates, self-concepts simply describe how one sees oneself.
