seeing-eye
Guiding the blind
Seeing-eye describes a dog trained to guide a blind person, from the Seeing Eye organization that pioneered such training in America.
The term has become generic for any guide dog: a seeing-eye dog led her through the crowd.
Figuratively, it describes anything that guides or directs: He served as my seeing-eye through the bureaucracy.
