second wave feminism
Post-suffrage gender movement
Second wave feminism refers to the period of feminist activism from roughly the 1960s through the 1980s, building on the first wave's fight for suffrage to address broader issues: workplace discrimination, reproductive rights, domestic violence, and sexual liberation.
The movement challenged traditional gender roles and produced landmark legislation and cultural shifts.
Second wave feminism gave us Title IX and the fight for the Equal Rights Amendment.
Critics note its focus on white middle-class women's concerns often marginalized women of color and working-class women.
