scramming

Getting out fast

Scramming is the act of leaving quickly or abruptly.

The word comes from scram, an informal command to go away: The kids went scramming out of there when the owner showed up.

In nuclear contexts, scramming refers to the emergency shutdown of a reactor—cutting power rapidly when something goes wrong.
