school story
Academic setting narrative
A school story is a genre of fiction set primarily in a school, typically a boarding school, following students through academic and social adventures.
The genre flourished in British children's literature from the late 19th through mid-20th century, with tales of dormitory life, sports rivalries, and youthful camaraderie: Tom Brown's Schooldays established the template for the school story.
The Harry Potter series revitalized the form.
