scarped

Made into cliffs

Scarped describes terrain that has been cut into a steep slope or cliff face, either naturally or artificially.

A scarped hillside drops away sharply.

Military fortifications were often scarped to make assault difficult: The scarped walls of the fortress rose forty feet from the ditch below.

The term comes from scarp, the steep inner face of a defensive ditch or natural escarpment.
