saint's feast
Patron's annual commemoration
A saint's feast is the day designated by a Christian church to honor a particular saint, typically the anniversary of their death or martyrdom.
Churches hold special services, and in Catholic and Orthodox traditions, the saint's relics may be venerated.
Some saints' feasts have become secular holidays: Saint Patrick's Day brings parades even to cities with few Irish Catholics.
