saddle sore
Equestrian's painful souvenir
Saddle sore has two meanings, both relating to prolonged riding.
A saddle sore is a skin irritation or open sore caused by friction from a saddle, affecting either rider or horse.
As an adjective, saddle-sore describes the stiff, aching condition of someone unaccustomed to riding: After three hours on horseback, I was thoroughly saddle-sore.
