Cushioned athletic wear
Padded shorts are athletic shorts with cushioning built into the seat or hips.
Cyclists wear them to reduce discomfort on long rides, with the padding (called a chamois) positioned where the body contacts the saddle.
Similar garments protect skaters, skiers, and other athletes from impact during falls: I always wear padded shorts when I'm learning new tricks at the skate park.
