rubber suits

Divers' protective garments

Rubber suits are form-fitting garments made of latex or similar materials, worn in various contexts.

Divers and surfers wear rubber suits (wetsuits, drysuits) for thermal protection.

In fetish and BDSM contexts, rubber suits are worn for their tactile sensation and visual appeal, the material clinging to the body: The club had a strict rubber dress code.

The term also appears in science fiction for alien or monster costumes obviously made of rubber: classic rubber suit monsters from 1950s B-movies.
