rostral

Near the beak

Rostral means toward or relating to the rostrum—the front end.

In anatomy and neuroscience, rostral indicates the direction toward the nose or front of the brain, opposite of caudal (toward the tail): The rostral portion of the prefrontal cortex showed increased activity.

In ancient Rome, a rostral column was decorated with the prows (rostra) of captured enemy ships.
